PoB - Lights and shadows
Too bad, just 169 words today since there was a bit of a mess at the Evil Day Job that robbed me of my usual little writing time during lunch break. But still, a few words is always better than no words, isn’t it?
In the light of the revelation following her prayer, Erthel faces some rather dark doubts about her mother and the whole story behind her birth.

PoB - Bloodlines
758 words today, and this rocks to say the least. This is still rough, and I’ll surely edit it in revision as soon as my worldbuilding settles down, but… still. This rocks.
This is another big twist, where the importance of blood, the entire novel’s keypoint, plays a terrifying role. Erthel tells Faurel the details of her experience with the prayer… and those details suddenly “click”...

PoB - I have an idea
485 words.
I surprised myself again with this little scene. My key point for the scene, albeit a quick one, was that Faurel started seeing Erthel differently, but I wasn’t completely satisfied with this, since his change of mind would’ve been shown anyway through his different behavior in the following scenes. Instead, while I was in Faurel’s mind, I understood that his change of mind was...

PoB - This is normal
679 words.
We’ve switched to Faurel’s point of view for a brief interlude while he and Maithel take care of Erthel, after whatever happened in the previous scene that I’m not gonna tell because it’s spoilertastic… well, happened. Faurel realizes what Erthel actually meant when she tried to explain to him her trouble with “the gift”, and begins to see her in a different light.

PoB - Falling down
746 words.
Erthel succeeds in completing her prayer… and sees something she did not expect. And no, I won’t say anything more because I’m just ebil that way. This is the novel’s first big twist, and where my first handful of in-depth planned scenes ends.
From now on, I know what’s going to happen, but the hows, whens and wheres are much fuzzier. And also, if what I’ve been through until now ...

PoB - Prayer begins
528 words. It’s so fun to be writing steadily again, and with such good wordcounts on the top of it!
Erthel and Faurel have reached a truce in their argument, and the nomad’s prayer starts. It’s going to be wearing, it’s going to be difficult… and it’s going to be nothing like they would expect, but of course they can’t know yet. I’m so ebil. Like gnomes, only I am awesome and they, well,...

PoB - The Almighty Lord of Obvious
789 words. Now that’s some serious wordcount, go me!
The almighty lord of Obvious is Faurel, seen through Erthel’s point of view, since she’s trying to concentrate on her prayer and he keeps making smart-ass remarks in an effort to correct what she’s doing. Erthel, though, makes it clear that this is not the right time for her to experiment new things: she has to pray to help find her...

PoB - PLZ 2 PREI RITE NAO KTHXBAI
Yes, I probably have issues with my lolenglish. I’m just evil that way.
452 words, and a new scene: Erthel and Maithel join Faurel at the well’s clearing. Time for Erthel to gather all of her courage and pray for her mother, which should help them to find her, or at least obtain some clues, much more quickly with respect to the traditional, lenghty procedure. This is the first time...

PoB - Keep your head up
454 words.
This was an unplanned little funny jewel. Now I have a short scene showing the village’s reactions to what happened the previous day and people’s attitude towards Erthel. Maithel encourages Erthel to keep her head up, even if the stares are making her uneasy.
I like how this snippet shows everyday life in the village through the conflict between Erthel and the others, and how...

Innocent notepad kidnapped by Gnomes of Evil
It’s official by now.
I have lost the novel-related little notepad thingie I used to take with me wherever I went. It’s not at my parent’s house, it’s not at my house, it’s not in any of my bags, it’s not in the car, and it’s not at the house where I went with my significant other for the end-of-the-year holidays, it’s like it was swallowed by the floor or something. Vanished. Gone....

PoB - Ready to go
278 words. Erthel is ready to join Faurel for their meeting near the well, and Maithel offers to accompany her, since she’s under her responsibility and she wants to find her mother as well.
It’s going slow, but I think I know where I want to take this phase to.

PoB - Writing again!
Finally, FINALLY got back on writing after a long holidays+end-of-the-year-various-crap hiatus. Only 285 words, but it’s always better than nothing.
Erthel wakes up after a dreadful night and throws fat clues at the reader. NOT literally. But still, she notices something weird (related to the same, mildly embarassing blood issue that emerged some time ago), she brushes it off with the most...
